custo da preven&ccedil;&atilde;o nas empresas &eacute; mais barato se compa=
rado
com os altos preju&iacute;zos que podem ser causados por funcion&aacute;rios
usu&aacute;rios de drogas. Esta constata&ccedil;&atilde;o de grandes
empres&aacute;rios estrangeiros come&ccedil;a a tomar forma tamb&eacute;m n=
as
empresas nacionais. Segundo dados levantados pela Organiza&ccedil;&atilde;o
Internacional do Trabalho (OIT), cerca de 70% dos trabalhadores t&ecirc;m
problemas com &aacute;lcool; de 20 a 25% dos acidentes de trabalho envolvem
pessoas intoxicadas, sendo que de 15 a 30% destes acidentes est&atilde;o
relacionados com o consumo de bebidas alco&oacute;licas na cantina da
pr&oacute;pria empresa. Outros n&uacute;meros que comprovam as perdas das e=
mpresas:
funcion&aacute;rios dependentes de drogas t&ecirc;m tr&ecirc;s vezes mais
chance de tirar licen&ccedil;as m&eacute;dicas, e cinco vezes mais
probabilidade de entrar com processos para compensa&ccedil;&atilde;o por
ferimentos ou incapacita&ccedil;&atilde;o resultantes de acidentes no traba=
lho,
sendo que o n&uacute;mero de faltas &eacute; de duas a <span class=3DGramE>=
tr&ecirc;s
vezes maior</span>. Potencializando este quadro, o levantamento mostrou que=
 os
filhos destes usu&aacute;rios apresentam problemas na escola e no
conv&iacute;vio social, com dificuldades de relacionamento.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><span style=3D'mso-tab-count:3'>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbs=

a situa&ccedil;&atilde;o, constata-se que o problema n&atilde;o est&aacute;
restrito apenas aos trabalhadores de baixa renda. Grandes empres&aacute;rio=

altos executivos t&ecirc;m se utilizado de m&uacute;ltiplas drogas para
acompanhar o ritmo alucinante do mundo dos neg&oacute;cios. Segundo a revis=
ta
Isto &Eacute;, de 1<sup>o</sup> de mar&ccedil;o de 1995, o problema no merc=
ado
financeiro &eacute; t&atilde;o recorrente que h&aacute; dois anos um flagra=
 de
dois corretores cheirando p&oacute; em pleno expediente acabou em
demiss&atilde;o sum&aacute;ria na <span class=3DSpellE>BM&amp;F</span> (Bol=
sa de
Mercadorias &amp; Futuros), em S&atilde;o Paulo. &#8220;O alcoolismo puro
est&aacute; em extin&ccedil;&atilde;o. O que se v&ecirc; hoje &eacute; o us=
o de
um grande coquetel qu&iacute;mico&#8221;, diz o psiquiatra ga&uacute;cho
S&eacute;rgio de Paula Ramos, chefe do setor de depend&ecirc;ncia
qu&iacute;mica do Hospital M&atilde;e de Deus, em Porto Alegre. Ramos diz a=
inda
que &#8220;os executivos de hoje s&atilde;o os hippies dos anos 70. J&aacut=
e;
viveram em contato com as drogas e, portanto, consumi-las hoje &eacute; mui=
to
mais f&aacute;cil&#8221;.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><span style=3D'mso-tab-count:3'>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbs=
p;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&=
nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbs=
p;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span>Levantamentos
das pr&oacute;prias empresas mostram que as drogas s&atilde;o a terceira ma=
ior
causa de faltas ao servi&ccedil;o, e estimam que um dependente <span
class=3DGramE>produz</span> apenas cerca de 65% do que um n&atilde;o-depend=
ente.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><span style=3D'mso-tab-count:3'>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbs=
p;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&=
nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbs=
p;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span>Diante
deste quadro, s&oacute; resta &agrave;s empresas encarar o problema. Segund=
o um
levantamento do Banco Interamericano de Desenvolvimento (BID), de cada US$ 1
investido em programas de recupera&ccedil;&atilde;o, as empresas obt&ecirc;=
m um
retorno de US$ 2 em aumento de produtividade. Programas de
preven&ccedil;&atilde;o e controle do uso de drogas e &aacute;lcool s&atild=
e;o
implantados em cada vez mais empresas no Brasil. Avon, Caterpillar, Johnson
&amp; Johnson, Shell, Basf, Goodyear, Companhia Minuano de Alimentos e Petr=
obr&aacute;s
s&atilde;o apenas alguns exemplos. O Servi&ccedil;o Social da Ind&uacute;st=
ria
(SESI), no Rio Grande do Sul, em conv&ecirc;nio com o Programa das
Na&ccedil;&otilde;es Unidas para o Controle Internacional das Drogas (PNU-C=
ID)
no Brasil, est&aacute; implantando um projeto que <span class=3DGramE>dever=
&aacute;</span>
durar tr&ecirc;s anos e atingir 24 mil empregados de 30 mil ind&uacute;stri=
as
do Estado. Segundo Giovanni <span class=3DSpellE>Quaglia</span>, diretor do
PNU-CID, &#8220;o enfoque tradicional de preven&ccedil;&atilde;o sempre
colocava as drogas como um problema individual; agora, o enfoque &eacute; n=
as
pessoas e em suas dificuldades de relacionamento com a fam&iacute;lia e com=
 a
sociedade, muitas vezes causadores do conflito que leva ao tr&aacute;fico e=
 a
depend&ecirc;ncia&#8221;. O princ&iacute;pio em que se baseiam &eacute; o da
substitui&ccedil;&atilde;o das drogas pelo esporte e por outras atividades =
de
valoriza&ccedil;&atilde;o da vida saud&aacute;vel.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><span style=3D'mso-tab-count:3'>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbs=
p;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&=
nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbs=

a Consolida&ccedil;&atilde;o das Leis do Trabalho (CLT) favore&ccedil;a as
demiss&otilde;es de funcion&aacute;rios dependentes de drogas, j&aacute; ex=
iste
jurisprud&ecirc;ncia contr&aacute;ria sobre o assunto. Algumas empresas
preferem tratar seus funcion&aacute;rios, at&eacute; mesmo por motivos
econ&ocirc;micos. Joaquim Ferreira Melo, m&eacute;dico da Refinaria Duque de
Caxias (<span class=3DSpellE>Reduc</span>) da Petrobr&aacute;s, diz que
&#8220;vale a pena acreditar na recupera&ccedil;&atilde;o, pois investimos =
em
certos funcion&aacute;rios ao longo de anos&#8221;. Esta opini&atilde;o
&eacute; compartilhada pelo advogado Luiz Mathias <span class=3DSpellE>Flac=
h</span>,
presidente do Conselho Federal de Entorpecentes (CONFEN). &#8220;N&atilde;o
s&oacute; pelo sentido altru&iacute;sta, mas por verificar que a alta
rotatividade e o custo de treinamento de outros empregados s&atilde;o gastos
muito maiores que a preven&ccedil;&atilde;o e a recupera&ccedil;&atilde;o&#=
8221;,
afirma. Nem <span class=3DGramE>todos</span> programas agem da mesma forma.
Segundo a j&aacute; citada reportagem da revista Isto &Eacute;, o programa =
da
Distribuidora de Petr&oacute;leo Shell &eacute; bem mais severo. Todo
empregado, do presidente ao faxineiro, tem de se submeter a testes que mede=
m a
concentra&ccedil;&atilde;o de drogas no organismo quando &eacute; contratad=
o.
Al&eacute;m disto, sorteios para novas baterias de testes s&atilde;o regula=
res.
Segundo Marcos <span class=3DSpellE>Tuckerman</span>, gerente de sa&uacute;=
de da
Companhia, &#8220;no m&iacute;nimo 10% dos funcion&aacute;rios pertencem ao
grupo de risco&#8221;. &#8220;A resist&ecirc;ncia ao exame e a
reincid&ecirc;ncia de um resultado positivo s&atilde;o casos de demiss&atil=
de;o&#8221;,
afirma.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p>

causadas por atitudes como estas podem causar s&eacute;rios preju&iacute;zo=
s.
Eduardo Ribeiro, diretor de recursos humanos da Avon, diz ainda que
&#8220;enquanto <span class=3DGramE>o problema n&atilde;o afeta</span> o
desempenho profissional, &eacute; muito dif&iacute;cil oferecer ajuda ao
executivo, at&eacute; porque ele n&atilde;o vai admitir o uso de drogas&#82=
21;.
Nestes casos, resta o consolo de que drogas e trabalho t&ecirc;m uma lua-de=
-mel
com curta dura&ccedil;&atilde;o.</p>
